In 1981, thermal water was discovered during drilling in Altmühltal, Germany’s third largest nature park. The spa that arose at the springs has been expanded several times. Altmühltherme Treuchtlingen is the only thermal spa in the Altmühltal Nature Park. A major renovation took place in 2020 with an expansion of the outdoor area with saunas and a spacious sun deck. One sauna is built into the old train carriage. The entire sauna deck with several outdoor saunas and a plunge pool was built floating on a steel structure. Extensive testing of the mechanical properties showed that Bamboo X-treme is very well suited for this purpose. FSC ® certified Bamboo X-treme decking boards were chosen by the director of Altmühltherme, they did not want to use WPC composite materials or tropical hardwood due to environmental concerns.
